PEORIA, Ill. -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured early Sunday morning.

Police spoke to the 18-year-old victim, who said he was walking alone on the 2400 block of Millman at 12:30 a.m. when he saw three other people run by. He heard a pop, and then saw that he was struck in the hand by a bullet.

The victim said that he was related to James Irby, 29, who was killed during an early morning home invasion on September 19. His girlfriend, KeiAmber Beard, was also killed during the home invasion.

The victim said there was a gathering for Beard, 24, near where he was shot, but said he did not attend.

Police say they pressed the victim on whether or not he was with another person when he was shot. The victim told police repeatedly that he was alone and was not the target of the shooting.

Police continue to investigate.
