Peoria man's trial set to begin June 16

A Peoria man charged for the death of his son appeared in court today.

Darnell Hunter Sr. is charged with involuntary manslaughter and criminal neglect of a disabled person.

His eighteen-year-old son Darnell Hunter Jr. died last year after being found unresponsive by his father in his home.

An autopsy showed Hunter Jr. died of malnutrition.

The death was ruled a homicide.

Hunter's trial is set for June 16.

If convicted, Hunter faces up to 13 years in prison.
