Peoria police officer indicted for sexual assault

PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria police officer has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman last month.

John McCavitt, 32, is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and Criminal Sexual Assault.

Little information is known about the incident itself.

If convicted, McCavitt could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
