PEORIA, Ill.-- Peoria Police are looking for a suspect in connection to an attempted child abduction Tuesday morning.
Police say the incident occurred around 7 a.m., as two young girls were walking to school near the corner of Spitznagle and Northeast Rock Island Avenues.
Officers say the girls, sisters, told them a black a male grabbed them from behind, and attempted to drag them into an alley.
The girls, ages 10 and 11, told police they were able to fight him off, and the suspect fled on foot. One of the girls then ran to get help.
Resident Ann Cooks says the child described how the suspect attempted to remove her clothes and beat her head against the ground, before she was able to escape.
"She said she was scared. She wanted her mommy. She didn't want to go to school. She was just scared," said Cooks. "She was real, real scared. She I have never, ever seen a little girl as scared as she was."
Cooks did not see the suspect.
The girls describe him as being in his 20's, and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jean shorts and black shoes. His hair was braided.
