PEORIA, Ill --  More than 600 people were left in the dark this evening due to a power outage.

According to Ameren, the outage started in a sub-station near Northwoods mall, when a device cracked and blew a fuse.

That affected about 640 customers around Brandywine and War Memorial Drive.

The mall did not lose power.

Ameren says crews were able to make repairs and full service should be restored.
