PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria teen is in serious condition after being hit by a car Monday afternoon.
Peoria police say around 2:45 p.m., a young girl around the age of 15 was crossing the street near the intersection of Knoxville and Nebraska when she was hit by a vehicle heading south on Knoxville.
"Right now, we're looking at serious injury, appears possibly a broken leg, some other injuries. But we have officers at the hospital right now to determine the type of injuries they are," said Peoria Police Lieutenant Steve Roegge.
Police say the teen may have been a Central High School student heading home.
The driver of the vehicle did stop.
No tickets have been issued at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
