PEORIA, Ill. -- The owner of a Peoria towing company has been hit with a $1,500 fine for dumping old tires on property several hours after a city cleanup ended.
Peoria Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard said an investigation determined that Ron Lightbody made three trips to the parking lot of the ShopRite grocery store on South Lincoln Avenue Sunday night.
Several residents noticed a red pickup truck believed belonging to Autotech Towing Company dumping tires at the location.
Settingsgaard said the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is also investigating the incident.
Lightbody could face additional fines if the EPA cites him for more violations.
