PEORIA, Ill. -- The city of Peoria got a little more multi-cultural Wednesday night.
Around 20 German teenagers were welcomed into town as part of the Friends of Friedrichshafen youth exchange.
For the next several weeks, the teens will live with a host family in central Illinois.
This is the 35th year for the exchange and the 3rd year for German student Lars Feuer who said he is eager to discover more about American culture.
"Mainly the food is different and I like it," said Feuer. "I know it is not the healthiest but it tastes awesome. People are friendlier in stores or the waitress. They always ask and are polite and German people don't."
The teenagers have a busy schedule planned the next few weeks including go-carting, a Chiefs game and a meeting with the Mayor.
