PEORIA, Ill. -- With temperatures in the 90's, hardly anyone is thinking of snow but the new Peoria Public Works Director says he is already thinking about the winter season.
On Friday, Peoria welcomed Mike Rogers from San Antonio, Texas. Yes, San Antonio, the city whose NBA team just lost to the Miami Heat.
Heat is something Rogers is used to, so the 90 degree weather we are experiencing doesn't bother him and even though snow is virtually non-existent in the Southwest, Rogers says he is up for the job of Peoria snow removal.
"I'm from the Midwest. I'm from Michigan, so the bulk of my career has been in Michigan,” said Rogers. "In Michigan we had over half our budget was dealing with snow and ice removal. I understand the dedication that you must have during those storms because that is a priority."
Mike Rogers served as the Assistant Director of Public Works for the city of San Antonio.
His first day on the job will be July 15.
