Peoria woman beaten during strong armed robbery attempt

PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police are investigating a strong armed robbery that occurred Sunday night.

Police spoke to the 28-year-old victim, who said she was walking from a local gas station to a friends house at approximately 11:30 p.m.

The victim said she felt the presence of someone following her, and when she got to the 900 block of S. Western Ave. she was hit in the back of the head.

The victim told police that a black female suspect demanded that she empty her pockets.

She said she told the suspect she had nothing on her. She says the suspect hit her a couple times and after realizing the victim had nothing, fled southbound on Western.

Authorities said that the victim had no obvious injuries and said she wasn't in pain.

There are no suspects in this crime.
