PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria woman was robbed at gunpoint and had her home burglarized early Monday morning.

Police spoke to the 38-year-old victim who said she was returning to her apartment on the 300 block W. Columbia Terrace at approximately 12:40 a.m.

When she approached her door, a black male suspect emerged from behind the bushes in front of the home and pointed a gun at her. The suspect made her lay on the ground and then searched her.

The victim says the suspect fled the scene. She says she then went to a friends house nearby and then returned to her home to find it burglarized. She told police that an undisclosed amount of cash and various prescription drugs were taken from her home.

It is not clear whether the suspect burglarized the home before or after robbing the victim.

The victim described the suspect as being a black male, around five foot, ten inches tall and thin with shoulder length dreadlocks. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
