PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis weighs in on Tuesday night's rally by the newly formed coalition CHANGE150.

District 150 parents and community leaders created the group to address concerns with district leadership.

Ardis said while the city lacks control over district operations, it's in the city's best interest to help the education system succeed.

"Their success has a huge impact on our success. So we are going to continue to work with them, and help them in any way that we can to help make that product one that people are willing to participate in," said Mayor Jim Ardis, City of Peoria.

Ardis said the city council has had monthly meetings with the district for more than a decade.
