BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- District 87 School board members are looking to reduce their $2.7 million deficit.
Officials have a deficit reduction plan that will cut about $2 million in their expenses.
Some of those cuts include technology, supplies, and personnel. That means Bloomington public school students could see larger class sizes.
"Our goal is to minimize that impact. I expect that we will see class sizes rise, not significantly, but it will have some impact. To some degree it will have that impact but overall, I don't anticipate it to disrupt the learning of kids," said District 87 Superintendent Dr. Barry Reilly.
Officials say the actual deficit reductions will begin this March and will impact the next two school years.
The reductions will take place across the K through 12 program.
