Police, DCFS investigate alleged child abuse against Peoria baby

PEORIA, Ill -- Peoria Police along with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating alleged child abuse against a one-year-old Peoria baby.

Peoria Police say Friday, August 9th a 13 month old girl was transported to OSF Saint Francis by ambulance with injuries consistent of child abuse.

Police say the child remains at OSF with severe brain damage.

DCFS released a statement saying the biological parents and the child's uncle are being investigated, their names are not being released at this time.

DCFS has protective custody of the infant as well as a sibling.

According to the release, the child's daycare has been cleared by the DCFS Office of licensing.

Peoria Police said the investigation is on-going and no arrests have been made at this point.
