PEORIA, Ill -- A Peoria man has been arrested in connection to a Friday morning home invasion, police say.
Leonard Schmitt, 22, was arrested after being identified by the victim in the home invasion.
The victim told officers that she had just came back to her home on the 2700 block of W. Lincoln Avenue after running to the ATM. The victim said she was with her boyfriend and her mother at her home.
The victim said that she heard the door being kicked in while she was in her bedroom. Her boyfriend was in the bathroom during the break in.
The victim's mother said that she saw the two suspects while they were in the house. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. She was able to identify Schmitt after he was arrested during a traffic stop.
Nothing was taken during the break in.
Schmitt is currently being held at Peoria County Jail. The second suspect is still at large.
