PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police have arrested a second man in connection with the city’s latest homicide.

Cartez Williams, 25, was arrested Tuesday evening on Frye Street in Peoria.

Williams was allegedly involved in a shooting earlier this month that left Carnell Ashford, 31, dead and two others injured.

Williams faces charges of aggravated use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm and murder.

He is expected to appear in Peoria County Court Wednesday afternoon.

Police have already arrested Kent Irby Jr. for the shooting. Irby faces charges of second degree murder and felony mob action.

Irby claimed he shot Ashford in self defense.
