PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said Treyshawn Blakely, 17, of Peoria, is the victim of shooting Sunday.

He is the city's fourth homicide of the year. It is the second such crime in just two days.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday, Peoria police were called to the 1600 block of West Butler for reports of a fight in the street. The call was later upgraded to shots fired.

Authorities found Blakely in the street. Ingersoll said he was shot in the head and was pronounced dead in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center at 6:30 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Another shooting victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"One of the things that concerns me about this," said Peoria police captain Mike Scally, "sounds terrible, about this shooting than most of them is the weapon used in this shooting was a high caliber rifle. It was a .223. Shell casings were discovered at the scene so that's indicative of an assault type weapon."

Scally said gun violence tends to heat up as the weather does.

Authorities have no suspects at this time.
