PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police are investigating an armed robbery at a north side bank. It is the latest in a series of violent incidents throughout the city
Police responded to First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust, at 1021 Bird Ave. at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
There were no customers and just two employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery.
Witnesses told police that a man with a silver pistol demanded money and then fled the scene.
No suspects have been named at this time, but police have a detailed description of the robber.
“The suspect is described as a tall black male, probably 6'3" to 6'4", muscular build. He was wearing a silvery gray business-type suit, with a white t-shirt or dress shirt underneath with a t-shirt collar,” said Peoria Police Captain Mike Scally.
Captain Scally said the suspect also has gold teeth.
