PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Police are investigating a fatal car crash near Proctor Hospital.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Elaine and Knoxville, just outside the Proctor Hospital campus, shortly after 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said John Schriner, 78, was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Schriner was a passenger in a gold intrepid that was traveling northbound on Knoxville. The car, driven by Schriner's wife Virginia, attempted to make a left turn into the Proctor Hospital campus and was struck by a southbound SUV.

Police said both vehicles had a green light. A third vehicle was struck by the intrepid while waiting at the red light.

The driver of the Intrepid, Virginia Schriner, was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She is listed in good condition.

The driver of the SUV, a female in her 30's, was also transported to OSF with non life-threatening injuries. She was treated and released.

The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation. Authorities said speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
