PEORIA, Ill. -- Police are investigating the robbery of the Family Dollar, 2321 N. Wisconsin, on Sunday night.

Police spoke to two employees of the business who said that a black male wearing all black with a black mask walked into the business at around 9:00 p.m.

The suspect was armed with a gun and told one of the employees to open the safe, where he took an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then ordered the employees to let him out the back door, where he fled the scene.

Police spoke to the manager of the business, who was out of town for the weekend. The manager said that she was suspicious of the robbery as it happened while she was gone.

She also told police that she had recently fired an employee and that he may be the culprit.

Police are still investigating this incident.
