PEORIA, Ill. -- Police are investigating a couple that allegedly defrauded a local business of more than $55,000.

Police said they spoke to Illinois Title Loans' auditor, Thomas Wawrzyniak, who alleged that a former employee defrauded the company of $55,000 worth of checks.

Wawrzyniak claimed that Amanda Pich, 32, would have her boyfriend, Bruce Malady, 30, bring people in for loans.

Pich would give the people a check for the loan, which they would then cash. Then they would keep $50 of the check and give Pich the rest.

Wawrzyniak said that the fraud occurred between August 1 and October 10 and that Pich was fired. Pich is believed to be living with her mother in Morrison, Missouri.

Police are still investigating the allegations.
