PEORIA, Ill -- A Peoria man was shot on the 300 block of Saratoga Street on Monday at 12:15 a.m.
Police responded to the scene, where they spoke to a witness of the shooting. The witness said that the victim had already been taken to the hospital by his two sons.
The witness said he was inside his residence when he heard the shots. The shots sounded close, so he grabbed his own gun and went to the front door.
The witness told authorities that at that time, his two sons assisted the victim of the shooting into a vehicle and took him to the hospital. He did not see the shooter or know the identity of the victim at that time.
Officers found two 9mm shell casings on the scene.
Police have not yet released the victim's name. They have said that the injuries sustained in the shooting are non-life threatening.
