PEORIA, Ill. -- Police are investigating a shooting incident that left two men injured early Friday morning.

Police responded to the 1400 block of NE Monroe St. at approximately 1:40 p.m. on a report of shots fired.

A 26 year-old man was found on the scene with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

While speaking to the victim at the hospital, a second victim came into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the buttock.

Police say that both victims were very uncooperative, but the nature of the first victim's wound made it appear as if he accidentally shot himself.

The second victim was seen driving away from the scene of the shooting in a black Dodge Avenger, but he claims he was shot in the area of California.
