PEORIA, Ill -- A three hour long stand off in a quiet north Peoria neighborhood ends peacefully.
Police say a domestic situation led Jerome Rosenberg to barricade himself and his wife inside their Deerbrook Estate home this morning.
Armed in riot gear, Chief Steve Settingsgaard says police responded to the 1000 block of West Brookforrest Drive around 7:45 a.m. on reports of shots fired.
He says the 59-year-old man barricaded himself in the home for more than three hours before a negotiator could convince him to surrender.
Once inside the house, police found a handgun, but no evidence any shots were actually fired.
Rosenberg was taken from the scene by paramedics for medical and mental evaluation.
He remains in the hospital, but has been placed under arrest on charges of aggravated assault.
