PEKIN -- Two Pekin police officers are being hailed as heroes.

Back in November, officers Luke VonDerHeide and Nick Taylor found a teenaged girl lying unconscious in a yard.

She had no pulse, so they started CPR and continued to do so until paramedics arrived.

The 15 year old had been walking her dog when she had cardiac arrest.

Hospital personnel say the officer's action helped saved the girl's life, and both have been awarded a Life Saving Medal.
