PEORIA, Ill. -- It was an intense afternoon at Taft Homes after multiple police agencies responded the call of a man with a long gun.

Authorities said an unidentified suspect ran across Adams Street and into the Taft Homes property with the gun just before 2 p.m.

Peoria Housing Authority CEO Brenda Coates said the man was not a Taft homes resident.

"This individual was running from somewhere and did run into several apartments where the door was open, and apparently, from what we were told, knocked on a few doors that were closed,” said Coates.

Police found two long guns in the area.

Authorities will review PHA Security camera footage in hopes of identifying the suspect.

No one was injured during the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Peoria Police or PHA Security.
