PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Police are asking anyone with information about the death of Matthew Nettles to contact authorities.

The body of the 31-year-old Washington man was pulled from the Illinois River Tuesday night.

A preliminary autopsy shows that Nettles died as a result of drowning. Authorities say a witness called police around 10 Tuesday night after she saw what appeared to be someone floating in the river.

Police say the man appeared to have been in the water for more than two days.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 673-4521.
