Powerball hits $425 million

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Someone could be $435 million dollars richer after Wednesday night.

There was no winner in the Saturday powerball drawing, meaning the powerball jackpot has swelled from $325 to $425 million, the second jackpot in the history of the United States to exceed $400 million.

If a single player does claim Wednesday jackpot, it will be the largest prize ever awarded by a lottery.

The cash value of that prize would be about $278 million before taxes, but the odds of winning are not in your favor. Winning the jackpot is about 1 in 175 million.
