Former Principal to receive lost wages & job

PEORIA, Ill -- The Illinois State Board of Education has ruled a former District 150 principal will recover more than two years of lost wages and her job.

 

Mary Davis was fired from her job as the district's academic officer in 2010 because she was accused of mishandling of the activity fund in her role as Lindbergh Middle School principal.

 

The state board recently ruled that Davis was improperly fired and as a remedy she should be immediately reinstated and reimbursed backed pay.

 

Davis was making $110,000 when she was fired, and she is also eligible to be reimbursed benefit and pension costs.

 

Her attorney Judy Serritella says while the cost is high, the blame ultimately lies with the district.

 

A District 150 spokesperson says it will appeal the decision and believes it will be reversed.

 

Earlier this year, Davis took a plea deal from the state, pleading guilty to a misdemeanor obstruction of justice charge and in return, 16 felony theft and misconduct charges against her were dropped.
