PEORIA, Ill. – Quest Charter Academy was searched by the FBI last Wednesday as part of a multi-school investigation into charter school grants.

At about 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday, federal officials entered the school on a warrant issued June 4 to look into information on E-Rate grants, which are allocated to charter schools buying IT infrastructure.

Quest said in a statement they had looked into the grants and determined they did not qualify for one. Their schools also already possess IT infrastructure.

The FBI was also interested in "certain external individuals/entities."

Quest did business with two of these. One provided server upgrades, while the other helped in personnel development.

Quest says grant funds were not used to pay for these services.

The statement says Quest was cooperative with the investigation.
