Rahm Emanuel hit the streets of Chicago Monday to begin his campaign in the race for mayor.

Emanuel is getting reacquainted with the windy city, he spent the morning talking to voters.

He resigned as White House chief of staff on Friday.

On Monday, he started what he calls a "listening tour".

And after all the handshaking and hugging, and autograph signing, Emanuel talked to reporters.

"People are enthusiastic, energized. They love their city. They know it's
got challenges. That's what they want to talk about," says Emanuel.

Emanuel wants to meet "everybody in Chicago;" something he says will be his biggest challenge.

So far, he seems well-accepted.

David Pierce said,"well, I think that he's good for Chicago, he's from Chicago. He's associated with President Obama, so I think that he would do an excellent job with the City of Chicago as being mayor."

"I thought that he was really personable and really interested in me, which means interested in the people of Chicago," explained Jae Truesdall.

"I'm definitely interested in his candidacy, but I'm open to whoever else
might pop up," said Angie Timmons.
