PEORIA, Ill. -- Former Congressman and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is writing a book about his 14 years in Congress, and his subsequent stint as a Republican cabinet member in the Obama administration.

We don't know what he will say in his book, but on Tuesday LaHood told News 25 that he is not happy with some of his GOP colleagues in the U.S. House.

He said they came to Washington to "do nothing and they've done nothing".

"I am very discouraged by the attitudes of Republicans in the House of Representatives, the fact that if it's Obama's idea they don't like it,” said LaHood. “The rich tradition of Congress has always been compromise; working together to solve the big issues, whether it's immigration. The fact that this Congress could not pass a farm bill is a disgrace.”

LaHood said America will no longer be number one if Congress continues to ignore the big issues.

Look for his book to be out next year.
