PEORIA, Ill. -- Newly elected Congresswoman Cheri Bustos made her first trip back to Peoria Friday since being sworn in.
In her first month serving the 17th district of Illinois, Bustos has been selected to serve on the Agriculture and Transportation committees and the aviation subcommittee.
Friday afternoon, the Representative toured the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport. She applauded airport officials and the community for already investing in airport renovations.
"The community believes in this airport. They understand it's importance as an economic driver. What I take away from this is making sure the infrastructure is in good shape and that as there are needs going forward, whether it be in the next year, the next 5 years, or the next 10 years, that we invest in that and we do what we can to bring back resources for that need," said Rep. Bustos.
State Senator Dave Koehler also joined Congresswoman Bustos. Senator Koehler serves on both the Agriculture and Transportation committees in Illinois.
