Four of Illinois' Republican leaders are uniting against the state borrowing more money.
Thursday is Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair.

State Treasurer Dan Rutherford says the governor wants to borrow $8.7 billion more dollars at a time when we should be cutting.
Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka says the state hasn't had a balanced budget in more than 10 years.

She says bills from April 2011 are sitting on her desk that she simply can't pay.

Topinka said, "Now I know it balances out on paper, but it's not a balanced budget. There's too much off budget. there's too much gimmickery that hides this stuff and it drives me crazy."

Republican Senate leader Christine Radogno and House Leader Tom Cross also say it's time to start solving the budget problem instead of continuing to put a band-aid on the situation.
