BARTONVILLE, Ill. -- Bartonville police are trying to figure out why a pickup truck was found in the Illinois River Tuesday.
Bartonville police said a resident flagged down an officer Tuesday morning, saying he saw something in the river.
It was a red pickup truck submerged about 20 feet away from shore.
Peoria water rescue squad was called in to search the vehicle before pulling it out of the water.
No one was inside the vehicle.
The truck belonged to an East Peoria resident who said he did not know it had been stolen until police called him.
The truck's owner said he kept the vehicle at a different residence in Peoria.
Police have no leads at this time.
