PEORIA, Ill. -- East Peoria students hosted their eighth annual Rock N' Roll Up Your Sleeves blood drive.

The blood drive was July 1 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Peoria RiverPlex.

The drive is in honor of previous blood drive student coordinator Morgan Ciota, who died in a car accident earlier this year.

The blood drive's goal is to beat last year's numbers of 85 pints.

"Within the first hour we had 30 people, and with 12 walk-ins, plus all the appointments," said student worker, Mike Rundle. "We are doing well. We are on pace to beat that goal. Hopefully that's what we are able to do."

You can also donate blood Thursday, July 3 at Bob Lindsay Acura in Peoria from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
