BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Elections for members of congress may be over a year away, but that isn't stopping one local politician from announcing his candidacy.
Monday, United States representative Rodney Davis announced that he is running for re-election in Illinois's 13th congressional district.
Davis won the seat last year, and has been serving since the beginning of this year.
Davis says congress is broken, and his goal is to help fix it.
"I'm running because the hard working taxpayers of the 13th district deserve an efficient, effective, and accountable government," Davis said. "I want to make sure that the next generation doesn't have to pay for the bad decisions being made in Washington today. We need a Washington that works for us."
Davis is up against former Miss America Erika Harold for the Republican nomination.
Three Democrats have also put in their bids for the seat.
