Rollover accident stops traffic on I-39, conditions worsen on I-155

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- The Illinois State Police are reporting that a roll over accident has caused traffic congestion on Interstate 39 and conditions are worsening on Interstate 155.

Police said semi driver, Dahir Ahmed, 26, was traveling southbound on Interstate 39 near Milepost 27 when he lost control of him vehicle. The semi rolled onto its side blocking both southbound lanes.

Crews moved the wreckage enough to open one southbound lane. The right lane is expected to be closed until at least 6 p.m. while the towing company uprights the semi and cleans up the scene.

No citations were issued and no injuries have been reported.
