SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Wednesday, Republican State Treasurer Dan Rutherford gave the strongest indication yet he will be seeking the Governor's seat in 2014.
Rutherford posted a message Wednesday on Facebook, stating that in recent elections, Rod Blagojevich and Pat Quinn received massive campaign dollars from a single source.
However, Rutherford says he doesn't have any big donors and doesn't want any.
Instead, he's asking for small donations in preparations for 2014, still not stating exactly what his intentions are.
"It's the Dan Rutherford Campaign Committee, which is the political committee that we use for our efforts," explained Rutherford over the phone. "Should we announce here after the new year that we are going to be running for Governor all of those funds would be used toward the effort for a campaign for Governor."
Rutherford says he's already received lots of donation participation, which his says is an indication of support.
State Senator Kirk Dillard has already announced he will run.
Other names being tossed around for the republican ticket are Congressman Aaron Schock and State Senator Bill Brady.
Governor Quinn has not yet announced if he will seek re-election.
