SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- A flock of Illinois Republicans will be heading for Florida over this weekend, heading for the GOP Convention. Among them will be State Treasurer Dan Rutherford.
Rutherford is the state chairman of the Romney campaign.
When asked what would he say to his fellow Republicans about the state's poor credit rating, the treasurer responded that he is not embarrassed.
"Illinois can be a much better place, and we can go out and change our government and bring in leadership that is ready to stand up and exercise the though love that's necessary in this capital city. And as I said earlier, it's time for the politicians to sit down and the statesmen to stand up," said Rutherford.
Legislators have six session days in late November and Early December to pass a pension reform bill.
That could be their only chance to act until 2013.
