PEORIA, Ill -- Back in 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July "National Ice Cream Month" and the third Sunday in July "National Ice Cream day."
Managers at Emo's in Peoria say people have been celebrating ever since.
However this year, ironically, the hot weather has kept the ice cream lovers away.
"It's so hot out people don't want to come out, they don't want to leave the air-conditioning," says Manager Dane Smith. "We'll get busier when the sun goes down people will start to come out. Eighty degrees is a good day. It's not too hot, it's not too cool. It's a good day for ice cream."
Because it seems we have a day for everything in America, July 15th is also National Gummi Worm Day and National Tapioca Pudding Day.
