PEORIA, Ill. -- A salmonella outbreak leaving 16 sick in five states has led to a recall of over 1000 pounds of ground beef.
Nine of the victims are in Michigan, but three were reported in Wisconsin, two in Illinois and one each in Arizona and Iowa, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.
No one has died from the outbreak, but half of the victims have been hospitalized.
The beef has been traced to Jouni Meats, Inc. out of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Gab Halal Food of Troy, Michigan. Both companies recalled over 1000 pounds of beef last week.
