PEORIA, Ill -- The holiday season of giving is continuing into January thanks to the support from locals and hours donated by volunteers.

Coats for Kids took place Friday at the Salvation Army gym in Peoria.

The goal was to get as many coats to families that need them as possible. With local children heading back to school, the Salvation Army wanted to make them happy and healthy with their warm winter gear.

"Everybody that needs a coat gets one. With the continued support with the media getting the word out, with the huge support, this is the first time this coat drive could be broken apart and help each different age group," said Rich Draeger, the assistant development Director of the Salvation Army.

The drop off locations were at the St. Francis church, our station, and many churches in the area.

If you missed the coat drive Friday, you can call the Salvation Army Service center for assistance.
