BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- This holiday season, the Bloomington Salvation Army is striving to bring joy to 5,500 local families.
You're probably familiar with one of the most popular Salvation Army holiday fund-raising efforts-- the red kettle bell ringers.
But, a Salvation Army spokesperson says donations are down this year, since there's restricted access in setting up kettles and the economy has more families seeking help this year.
The Salvation Army assists about 5,000 communities nationwide, including those in the Heart of Illinois.
