CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- More than 6 million Americans abuse prescription drugs, and about 70 percent of them get the medications from family or friends.

On Saturday, Central Illinois communities will take part in the 7th annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  The event gives the public the opportunity to safely dispose of their expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs with no questions asked.

Officials with the Drug Enforcement Administration say the take back day also helps prevent pill abuse, theft and accidental poisonings.
