Schools forced to close for water main break

PEORIA, Ill. -- Due to the water main break the Crittenton Crisis Nursery and the Daycare are closed until Wednesday.

Both Quest Academy locations closed Monday morning after they lost water too.

Seven District 150 schools were without water during the water main break.

A spokesman said service has been restored.

Students at Woodruff Technical School initially could not flush toilets or take drinks from water fountains, but the principal said immediately the district provided bottled water for students during the emergency.

"They had been using the bathroom even when the toilet were down. We let them use the bathroom. So it was a little smelly for a bit. But we got through it okay, the kids were great," said Thomas Blumer, Woodruff Principal.

Woodruff is not too far from where the water main break happened.

The principal said service was restored within an hour.
