EAST PEORIA, Ill -- The season of giving continued Thursday at our studios in East Peoria. WEEK/WHOI, along with the American Red Cross, hosted a blood drive.

People from all over the viewing area donated, and they collected 60 pints of blood.

All of this wouldn't be possible without the generous support of both the donors and the many volunteers.

"This is my third time doing it, it doesn't hurt. It feels good to help out a complete stranger that you'll never probably even meet," said Chris Kolowski, a blood donor from East Peoria.

Volunteer Beverly Owens said, "I volunteer because I feel like I'm helping people. I get to know people and help people since I can't donate blood myself."

Just one donation may save up to three lives.

If you didn't have time Thursday, you can make an appointment anytime online at or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
