PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria business was forced to halt production Friday after a semi tractor trailer clipped a power line near the building.
Peoria firefighters said the truck was trying to turn right on to University from Townline Road when the driver ran into a power line, causing it to snap.
Nearby G and D Truck Company lost power, due to the incident.
Peoria police blocked access to the intersection because the lines were active. Ameren Illinois crews were called in to repair utility poles on both sides of the street.
"It's a big truck; he just cut the corner sharp," said Captain Paul Maras of the Peoria Fire Department. "That's a pretty sharp curve. This line out here is probably an inch in diameter; it's a pretty big power line."
Captain Maras said the truck driver pulled into a parking lot after the accident and was not injured.
Maras said the PARC agency on Townline also lost power but was using a backup generator.
The accident is under investigation.
