CHICAGO, Ill -- Illinois Senator Mark Kirk has been released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Senator Kirk suffered a stroke last month, and Friday an announcement on Senator Kirk's Facebook page released an update on his status.

Dr. Richard Harvey at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago said, " (he) will spend the next few days assessing Senator Kirk's condition and developing a comprehensive, targeted rehabilitation program."

Dr. Harvey said the Illinois Senator had youth, good general health and fitness, and high intelligence on his side to help him make a good recovery.
