Single vehicle crash puts driver in critical condition

PEORIA, Ill -- A Peoria man is in critical condition after a single vehicle crash this morning.

Police say 22-year-old Joshua Schieferdecker was traveling eastbound on Interstate 74 near Goodfield when he lost control of his car and went off the road, hitting a tree.         

Schieferdecker was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

The incident remains under investigation, but state police say charges of driving under the influence and improper lane usage are pending at this time.
